Over the past few weeks, we have discussed the Introduction to Autonomous Mobility course taught by Ed Hodzen at LHPU. So far, in this miniseries, we have talked in detail about the course overview, sensor fusion, and path planning. If you missed any of these videos, you can view them here: Intro to Autonomous Technologies Course Autonomous Mobily Course: Sensor Fusion Autonomous Mobily Course: Path Planning Vehicle Control Module This week, we will be taking a deeper dive into the vehicle control portion of the Autonomous Mobility course. In this module we take all of the elements from the previous modules and formulate a control system to implement that path plan. The vehicle control module will provide the student with comprehensive, technical, fundamental knowledge with hands-on implementation experience. During this module, we will be developing a vehicle controller that utilizes that planned trajectory. This will utilize a number of vehicle dynamic models to simulate the performance of that vehicle in the control system. We introduce students to a vehicle controls technology that will utilize a simulation environment, which will allow the student the flexibility to rapidly develop the technology, the code, and the algorithms. Once the students have worked in the simulation, they then move forward to demonstrate those tests on a real autonomous shuttle vehicle.
